Call for Input: Draft National Plan to End the Abuse and Mistreatment of Older People

The Australian Government has released the Draft National Plan to End the Abuse and Mistreatment of Older People. LHA is seeking input from LGBTI older people, (chosen) family, friends, supporters and aged workers about their experiences and views of elder abuse.  

Please email us by 9 February 2025 at [email protected] with any responses you have regarding the following questions: 

  1. What experiences have you or someone you know had with elder abuse or mistreatment due to being LGBTI? 
  2. What extra challenges do LGBTI people face when dealing with elder abuse or mistreatment, compared to other older people? 
  3. What are your top two concerns about addressing elder abuse and mistreatment of LGBTI people? 

 
Confidentiality 

Any responses you provide to us will be treated confidentiality. We may include comments you share about your experiences in our written remarks to Government, but this will not contain any identifying details.  

We greatly value your willingness to share your views and experiences.  

If you are comfortable with us anonymously using detail of your experiences in future comments and submissions we make to consultations and inquiries, please inform us of your consent in your email. We will only include your comments if we have your explicit consent.
