This document is designed to support mainstream mental health and suicide prevention services to better provide for LGBTI communities. The aim of the Framework is to ensure that these organisations are better able to recognise, understand and meet the specific needs of LGBTI people.
Culturally appropriate and inclusive services lead to better health outcomes and greater satisfaction with health care for members of LGBTI communities.
The Framework is designed to inform practice and policy in public, private and non-government organisations (NGOs). This includes mental health and suicide prevention services, drug and alcohol services, mainstream NGOs and community based organisations, outreach organisations and primary care.
