Submission to the Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC) Data Policy Framework Consultation

LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) has submitted its feedback to the Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC) Data Policy Framework Consultation.

In this submission, LHA emphasises the importance of including LGBTIQ+ populations in public health data collection, advocating for the adoption of the ABS 2020 Standard to ensure accurate representation of sex, gender, variations of sex characteristics, and sexual orientation variables. The submission highlights concerns about privacy, data governance, and health equity, stressing the need for robust safeguards and community engagement.

LHA also calls for partnerships with LGBTIQ+ organisations to guide culturally appropriate data governance.
