LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) is the national peak body for LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing for organisations and individuals that provide health-related programs, services and research focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans/transgender, intersex, queer and other sexual orientation, gender, and bodily diverse people.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Director, Digital Health to lead LHA’s national digital health initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative digital health strategies that enhance access to services and improve health outcomes for LGBTIQ+ people across Australia. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, sound knowledge of the health needs of LGBTIQ+ communities and a rigorous understanding of peer driven, peer support programs and services.

What you will do:

As the Director, Digital Health, you will lead a passionate team of 4 staff and spearhead groundbreaking digital health strategies that enhance service delivery and empower LGBTIQ+ communities. Delivering programs funded by the Australian Digital Health Agency, you will ensure that programs are to the highest standards and have maximum impact. The program aims to empower LGBTIQ+ people to make informed decisions about their health. This is achieved through community consultation and the development of resources regarding digital health tools.

You’ll oversee QLife, Australia’s national LGBTIQ+ teleweb service, ensuring it remains a vital resource for those seeking support, ensuring that QLife is delivered to the highest standard and is guided by current research and models of best practice and maintains its accreditation. The role is also accountable for the delivery of a consistent national service guided by QLife’s national operating model, practice framework and key performance indicators. QLife is delivered in partnership with four LGBTIQ+ community-controlled organisations nationwide. You will use your partnership and leadership skills to assist in the development and implementation of a diversification of funding strategy across corporate and philanthropic entities.

The Director, Digital Health will ensure smooth running of national advisory groups and governance committees, as well as staff and volunteer induction and training programs. This role is pivotal in working with the LHA team to implement our strategic priorities outlined in the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan, and the 10 year (2025 -2035) National Action Plan for the Health and Wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ People. It is a requirement that all LHA programs incorporate the needs of LGBTIQ+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, including BrotherBoys and SisterGirls.

  • Data-Driven Decision Maker: Proficient in utilising data analytics and evaluation methods to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Culturally Competent: An understanding of the importance of cultural safety and inclusivity in health services, with a commitment to tailoring programs to meet the diverse needs of LGBTIQ+ people.
  • Effective Communicator: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and advocate for the health needs of the community.

  • Convenient office locations: This role is open to people based in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. The Sydney office is based next to Museum station and a short walk from Central station. LHA’s Melbourne hub is based at the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda, and in Canberra we are closely located to Civic.
