Health in Difference and Ageing in Difference are Australia’s leading conferences on the health and wellbeing of LGBTIQ+ people and communities.
The 2026 Conferences were held concurrently June 10 -12 in Canberra. A total of 244 delegates attended the conferences, with representation from every Australian state and territory. The conference program featured 128 presenters across six keynote presentations, six plenary panel sessions, 62 abstract presentations and 10 workshops.

Health in Difference Communiqué
Health in Difference brings together health professionals, researchers, policymakers and community leaders to share evidence, build partnerships, and shape the systems that influence health outcomes.
The 2026 conference marked a significant milestone, thirty years since the first conference, and came at a pivotal moment in public health reform. The Communiqué outlines the conference’s priority actions to address the persistent inequities experienced by LGBTIQ+ people in health and wellbeing.

Ageing in Difference Communiqué
Ageing in Difference convenes LGBTI people, aged care providers, policymakers, researchers and advocates to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships and advance inclusive systems of care.
Held at a critical point in aged care reform, the 2026 conference highlights the urgent need to capitalise on this reform. The Communiqué sets out the priority actions from the Conference to address the ongoing disparities faced by LGBTI older people as they age.
