Wednesday 18 June 2025 | 2:00pm AESTThe National Action Plan for the Health and Wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ People 2025–2035 sets out a clear vision for change - but what does it take to bring that vision to life?
At our next LHA Member Network Meeting, we’ll hear from David Casey of the Health Equity Branch at the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing - the agency responsible for developing and delivering the Plan. ZoomJoin us to explore how ageing reforms impact older LGBTI people
Significant changes are coming with the introduction of the new Aged Care Act, now due to come into force on 1 November 2025. But what do these changes mean for older LGBTI people, and how can you best navigate them? Our upcoming webinar will provide clarity on these reforms, explain new supports available, and highlight how they aim to ensure older LGBTI Australians can age with dignity, care, and respect.
This session will provide:
-
An overview of the key ageing reforms, including the new Aged Care Act, and their practical implications for LGBTI older people.
-
Insights into supports such as Care Finders and the Community Visiting Service (ACCVS).
-
Understanding how LGBTI-specific services and organisations are adapting to better support older community members.
-
GRAI’s (GLBT Rights in Ageing Inc.) perspective on recent reforms, including the Community Visiting Service and the Specialisation Verification process.
-
Real-world perspectives: reflections from the viewpoint of older LGBTI individuals.
