A recap of the Leadership In Action: LGBTIQ+ Suicide Prevention Forum

MindOut Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Officer Yesim Karasu recaps the MindOut Leadership In Action forum on 12 & 13 May

MindOut’s ‘Leadership in Action: LGBTIQ+ Suicide Prevention Forum’ ran on the 12th & 13th of May.

This was a community-focused event that brought together key MindOut stakeholders to discuss various types of leadership in Australian LGBTIQ+ suicide.

Attendees were welcomed into the event with an opening keynote from the ever-passionate Joe Ball at Switchboard.

The five main webinar sessions featured co-designed content from MindOut’s four advisory groups; Sector Professionals Advisory Group, Peer Expert Advisory Group, Mindout Champions Network and Primary Health Networks.

Closing the event out with a keynote speech was Dr Vanessa Lee-Ah Mat, with a strong call to action for LGBTIQ+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

For those who attended, we are now running a post-forum survey which you can access here.
