Expression of Interest - Paid role for LGBTIQ+ storytellers

MindOut is looking for LGBTIQ+ storytellers, musicians and artists to share their experiences about what LGBTIQ+ leadership looks like in their local community. Successful applicants will have their work included in a larger webinar that looks at LGBTIQ+ leadership - especially within the context of mental health and suicide prevention – and how we can make space for change-makers who are unseen or underrecognized in their communities.

Due date: 9am 21st of March

Payment: $200

Requirement: 10-20 minute video submission.

Submissions can include stories about your own experiences and thoughts around leadership or maybe about an influential LGBTIQ+ leader in your community. We are particularly looking for experiences from First Nations people and/or multicultural leaders as we recognise the need to prioritise these kinds of change-makers in our community.

Content

Please submit a 10-20 minute video about what leadership means to you as an LGBTIQ+ person.

Do you have a story about an LGBTIQ+ leader who has made an impact in your community or how you yourself have made an impact? Have you struggled to see yourself as a leader or to be recognised as a leader by your wider community? How do you feel about leadership in general? What does leadership look like in non-hierarchical spaces? We are interested in all these questions and more!

The format of these stories is up to you. We welcome speeches, interviews, performances, etc.

What is this for?

This content will be included as part of an hour and a half webinar session on LGBTIQ+ community leadership. It will be released in April as part of MindOut Australia’s LGBTIQ+ Mental Health and Suicide Prevention forum.

Who will view this?

The webinar will be available to anyone who registers for the event in April and will also be recorded and uploaded to our website and youtube channel. Please note this is a national project that is publicly accessible, so it may be likely that people who know you will see. You are welcome to submit content that disguises your voice and/or face.

Do I have to be a creative to apply?

Not at all! Videos or written text from first-timers are more than welcome.

Payment:

Successful applicants will be renumerated $200 for their works.
