Information, Linkages and Capacity Building for People with Disability - LGBTIQ+ Health Australia

Information, Linkages and Capacity Building for People with Disability

Invitations are open for organisations to submit a tender for an important project focused on supporting LGBTIQ+ individuals with disability. This initiative aims to address the unique needs and challenges faced by this intersectional community and to promote inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment.

LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) and Inclusive Rainbow Voices (IRV) are currently working on an Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) grant funded project that will develop a national co-designed participation framework for LGBTIQ+ people with disability (PWD).

We are inviting responses to this Request for Tender (RFT) for the provision of:

  1. A scoping review of available literature on effective social leadership and peer support programs relevant to LGBTIQA+ people with disability: Due 30 June 2025 .
  2. A project evaluation: Due 30 June 2027.

This project will provide an innovative program of activities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, and asexual (LGBTIQA+) PWD that foster social connection and strengthens existing knowledge, skills and confidence to understand and exercise rights, navigate services and participate in the community. The model will be co-designed by LGBTIQA+ people with disability, with support from an Advisory Committee made up of professionals in the LGBTIQA+ and disability sectors.

Key Project Objectives:

  • Co-design a framework for a peer support, community connection and social leadership model, that will be rolled out nationally through Community Champions. The model will include training and resources for families and carers.
  • Build the capacity of families and carers in supporting LGBTIQA+ people with disability to exercise their rights and enhance community autonomy by developing local linkages.

Tender Objectives:

  • To review current literature, research, and policies to identify community needs. To have a strong understanding of the landscape regarding effective social leadership and peer support programs that have been effective with LGBTIQA+ people with disability.
  • Evaluate the process and outcomes of the project with a focus on the experience of participants and utility of the participation model. We invite you to determine the design and methodology for this evaluation as a part of your response.

The tender process will be open until close of business (5:00 pm) 5 May 2025. Successful applicants to be informed by May 12 at the latest.

Full tender documentation, including project requirements, deliverables, and evaluation criteria, is attached.

We would be delighted to discuss the project in more detail and answer any questions you may have and look forward to receiving your submission.
