Member Network Meeting - June 2025

From plan to progress:
Bringing National Priorities into focus for LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing

Wednesday 18 June 2025 |  2:00pm AEST

The National Action Plan for the Health and Wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ People 2025–2035 sets out a clear vision for change - but what does it take to bring that vision to life?

At our next LHA Member Network Meeting, we’ll hear from David Casey of the Health Equity Branch at the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing - the agency responsible for developing and delivering the Plan. The session will explore the next steps in national implementation, and how the Plan can help shape action in government, health services, and the work of LGBTIQ+ organisations.

David Casey (He/Him)

David Casey (he/him) is Director – Men’s, LGBTIQA+, Children and Young People’s Health, Health Equity Branch, Population Health Division, Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

Member Network Meetings support the work of LHA member organisations and build a strong, cohesive and collaborative LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing sector by providing a forum to:

  • build professional relationships and make new connections
  • stay up to date about trends, best practice and innovative resources
  • discuss the current and emerging issues that are our sector’s ‘hot topics’
  • promote the work and activities of LHA members
  • Share and build skills and knowledge (professional development)
  • collaborate on joint action or advocacy to solve shared problems
  • Be inspired by interesting and relevant speakers

The meetings are open to staff working in LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing in the following LHA member organisations:

  • Full members – community-controlled LGBTIQ+ health organisations whose sole business is LGBTI health through service delivery.
  • Regular members - community-controlled LGBTIQ+ organisations who solely advocate for and promote the health of LGBTIQ+ people.
  • Affiliate members - organisation who have a project or program promoting LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing.
