Member Training Courses

LGBTIQ+ Health Australia is a member-based organisation. Many of our Full Members provide LGBTIQ+ training and professional development in their local regions throughout Australia. This is a list of training opportunities currently available through our member organisations across Australia.

Many of the organisations listed are also able to provide customised options to suit your setting and participants needs.  You can contact the organisations directly for further information.

Working It Out

WIO offers a range of standard and tailored training and professional learning packages for workplaces, organisations and government. They deliver both in person and online.

WIO LGBTIQA+ cultural awareness and inclusivity training is developed specifically for Tasmania and its unique context (including Tasmania’s Anti-discrimination Laws) and their staff are all highly trained and experienced educators.

Tailored education

Intersex Human Rights Australia (IHRA) can provide a range of tailored training and services to individuals, organisations, institutions and community groups around Australia.

Meridian ACT and A Gender Agenda (ACT) 

LGBTIQ Awareness/Inclusivity Training

Meridian ACT and A Gender Agenda provide education and training to community groups, organisations, schools and workplaces. This training will help attendees understand and recognise diversity within human experience, gain confidence in the use of language and terminologies around LGBTIQ people and communities, and identify and develop ways to enhance workplace inclusive practice. The training can be tailored to focus on topics of learning and discussion specific to your organisational needs. 

ABBI (NSW)

Walking Between Worlds: Working Effectively with LGBT People from Faith Backgrounds

This one-day training provides an insider and in-depth view into the complexities, conflicts and challenges for LGBTI people from faith backgrounds. Understanding the LGBTI faith person’s worldview and beliefs systems as well as the unique personal and psychological obstacles they face, equips community workers and service providers to work more effectively with clients.

ACON (NSW)

Pride Training

ACON offers a variety of training, information, and educational services to assist health, wellbeing, and community organisations in increasing their knowledge of LGBTQ people and communities, and provide guidance on inclusive practice. These include in-person and online training options. 

Twenty10 (NSW)

PRISM LGBTIQA+ Inclusivity Training

PRISM Inclusivity Training is a one-day practical workshop for building confidence in working with people of diverse genders, diverse sexualities and/or intersex status. PRISM helps you explore how better practice principles can make a difference for you, your organisation, service or school when working with LGBTIQA+ people, including young people.

Queensland Council (Queensland)

Basic LGBTI Cultural Awareness Training

This half day training session will provide participants with information on sexuality, gender identity, intersex status, and the impact of discrimination on LGBTI people. The session helps attendees understand the social pressures that affect LGBTI people and the impact they have on their health.

Creating Inclusive Services Training

This half day session builds on the LGBTI Cultural Awareness training and will support the development of inclusive services and best practice strategies for LGBTI people accessing organisations in QLD. The session provides practical mechanisms for organisations to increase access and build rapport with LGBTI people

Shine SA (Adelaide)

Foundations of LGBTI Inclusion

The Foundations of LGBTI Inclusion training is a half-day (4-hour) workshop that gives participants an overview of the knowledge needed to create an inclusive workplace.

Trans Gender Victoria (Victoria)

Various training options

Trans Gender Victoria offers a number of training options to equip your organisation, business, or service with the skills to better support the needs of trans and gender diverse and LGBTIQA+ people. Their courses cover a variety of topics, including inclusivity training, aged care training, and LGBTIQA+ family and partner violence training.

Living Proud (WA)

Opening Closets

Living Proud’s award winning Opening Closets training package aims to help organisations tackle homophobia, transphobia and improve their accessibility and services for LGBTI clients. They offer a half-day or full-day option.

ABOUT LGBTIQ+ Health Australia
LGBTIQ+ Health Australia, (formerly the National LGBTI Health Alliance), is the national peak health organisation in Australia for organisations and individuals that provide health-related programs, services and research focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people and other sexuality, gender and bodily diverse (LGBTIQ+) people and communities. Dropping the “+” from our name only occurs within digital formats that do not allow mathematical symbols, such as within our domain name, handles and hashtags.
