Transforming Tasmania: Lessons in LGBTIQA+ Health, Wellbeing and Equality

This webinar provides an opportunity to share information, experiences and learnings from a particular local jurisdiction, Tasmania, which may provide ideas and inspiration of other areas across the country.

Lynn Jarvis

Lynn Jarvis (she/her) 

Dr Lynn Jarvis is the Chief Executive Officer for Working It Out, Tasmania’s only dedicate service provider for the Tasmanian LGBTIQA+ communities.

Lynn has worked in a variety of management and executive level positions across government, adult and higher education, mental health and the not-for-profit sector, and while a born and bred Tasmanian, Lynn has also lived and work in Japan, Malaysia and Cambodia.

A key theme of Lynn’s work is supporting those marginalized from opportunity to live full and inclusive lives in whatever way that means for them.  Her focus is on leading from a values-based position and on working towards a just society for all.

Lynn has a BA (Hons) from the University of Tasmanian, a Bachelor of Education from Edith Gowan University and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Wollongong


Rodney Croome

Rodney Croome (he/him)

Rodney Croome is a long-time advocate for the LGBTIQA+ community in Tasmania and nationally. He fronted the successful campaign to decriminalise homosexuality in Tasmania and was the national director of Australian Marriage Equality. He has also worked on anti-discrimination protections, parenting equality, transgender recognition and lifting the gay blood ban.

Rodney helped establish Tasmania's five LGBTIQA+ government reference groups and is chair of two of them. For his work, Rodney was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2003 and named Tasmanian of the Year in 2015.
