Attention: LGBTIQ+ people with disability! Are you ready to share your story? Then come along to the Our Voices Our Lives Our Way storytelling workshops… If you want to learn tips and tricks for how you can share your story and advocate in a purposeful and safer way, then these free online workshops are for you. Facilitated by Emily Dash and Madeleine Stewart, you’ll get to connect with others and hear from LGBTIQ+ people with disability who are already sharing their stories for advocacy. Whether you’re at the start of your learning journey and wondering how to begin, or you’re already advocating with story and want some new ideas, there’s something in our workshops for everyone. We will be running a three-part series of workshops on: 1. Getting Started in Advocacy In this workshop, you’ll learn how to work out what’s important to you and your advocacy. You’ll also learn about how to come up with ideas and some tips for how to develop a storytelling process. 2. Discovering Your Voice In this workshop, you’ll learn about how to develop your own unique storytelling voice. Everyone has a voice and something to say, and this workshop will help strengthen your confidence to share your story. An important part of this is knowing your boundaries, dealing with criticism, and looking after your mental health - you’ll learn about these, too. 3. Developing Advocacy and Storytelling In this workshop, you’ll learn some of the more practical skills to get started. You’ll learn about creative flow, how to craft a message, and get some tips and tricks on different techniques you can use to share your story. The series will run once in October and again in November. You can attend all three workshops or just ones that interest you most.
