Lung cancer remains one of Australia’s deadliest cancers, but early detection can save lives.
The National Lung Cancer Screening Program, funded by the Australian Government, offers a vital opportunity to reduce preventable deaths by identifying cancer early—when it’s most treatable. Importantly, LGBTIQ+ people have been recognised as a priority population in the development of this program, due to disproportionately high rates of smoking and barriers to care.
This webinar will introduce the program and explain the barriers and enablers to accessing the program, as highlighted by LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) and its member organisations to ensure it is inclusive, accessible and affirming for LGBTIQ+ people. Attendees will gain practical knowledge about eligibility, referral pathways, and the importance of culturally safe communication.
Join us to learn how this national initiative is working to protect the lungs—and the lives—of LGBTIQ+ populations, and how service providers can support equitable access to screening.
