LHA has made a submission strongly advocated for the routine and consistent collection of data on sex, gender, variations of sex characteristics and sexual orientation across primary health care datasets, in line with the ABS 2020 Standard.

We emphasised that without high-quality, nationally consistent data, LGBTIQ+ populations remain invisible in policy, planning and funding decisions. The submission also called for governance arrangements that support safe, ethical and appropriate use of data, and for alignment with the National Action Plan to ensure that data is used to drive improved health outcomes and system accountability.
