MindOUT Webinar - An Australian First: Research Factors Related to Suicide Death in LGBT People: Implications for Practice

This webinar will discuss results of a research project that investigated factors related to suicide death in LGBT populations in Australia.

No such research had ever previously been carried out. Interviews were conducted with people who knew an LGBT person that had died by suicide and with living LGBT “control” participants in order to map out particular pathways to suicide that may be specific to LGBT Australians, as well as gain a better understand of what distinguishes those that have died from those who are living. The results do indeed identify specific predictive factors and pathways that can be considered in prevention and intervention.

Presenter

Dr Delaney Skerrett is a provisionally registered psychologist. He works for QLife and in private practice. He was a research fellow at Griffith University at the time this research was conducted.
