Submission on the draft Advice on the National Suicide Prevention Strategy

LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) has provided a detailed submission in response to the draft Advice on the National Suicide Prevention Strategy.

The submission highlights the disproportionately high rates of suicide and suicidal distress among LGBTIQ+ populations and outlines key recommendations to address these issues. These include tackling stigma and discrimination, improving data collection using the ABS 2020 Standard, ensuring access to inclusive healthcare, and supporting peer-led initiatives. LHA also calls for an intersectional approach to address the unique challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ people with intersecting identities.
