In Australia, the Commonwealth Government uses the initials ‘LGBTI’ to refer collectively to people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or intersex, which are five distinct but sometimes overlapping groupings.
Each letter in ‘LGBTI’ contains a diverse range of real people, living real lives. ‘LGBTI’ people can be found in all walks of life, professions, faith communities, political parties, and locations throughout Australia, all of whom will have a diverse range of health and wellbeing needs. Language and ideas within the LGBTI communities are constantly evolving and changing, and what might have been ‘getting it right’ a year ago might no longer address the needs of LGBTI populations.
This webinar was developed for Primary Health Networks (PHNs) but is suitable for all service providers and health services.
