On July 31, 2025, LGBTIQ+ Health Australia hosted a webinar with Lung Foundation Australia outlining the The National Lung Cancer Screening Program.
Lung cancer remains one of Australia’s deadliest cancers, but early detection can save lives. The National Lung Cancer Screening Program, funded by the Australian Government, offers a vital opportunity to reduce preventable deaths by identifying cancer early—when it’s most treatable. Importantly, LGBTIQ+ people have been recognised as a priority population in the development of this program, due to disproportionately high rates of smoking and barriers to care.
