Policy and Research Webinar - LGBTQ+ conversion practices and healing: Supporting LGBTQ+ people of faith

Policy and Research Webinar - LGBTQ+ conversion practices and healing: Supporting LGBTQ+ people of faith

On December 4, 2025, LGBTIQ+ Health Australia hosted a webinar exploring the lived experiences and long-term impacts of so-called LGBTQ+ conversion practices, often referred to as “ex-gay” or “reparative therapy.”

Drawing on Anthony Venn-Brown’s personal journey and 25 years of supporting over 4,000 survivors of formal “change is possible” programs, the session examines the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people of faith and from faith backgrounds.

Gain insights into the internal conflicts caused by attempts to reconcile faith and sexual orientation, the harms of LGBTQ+ conversion practices, and practical strategies for providing effective, affirming support.
