Election Survey - LGBTIQ+ Health Australia

Informed voting: LHA election survey

The Australian federal election takes place on 3 May 2025.

In early April, LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) launched its 2025 Federal Election Priorities, developed in consultation with our full member organisations.

To help inform your vote, LHA also surveyed the ALP, Coalition and Greens. We also surveyed several key Independents who will hold a vital role, should the major parties not form a majority government.

LHA welcomes the cross-party support for implementing the National Action Plan for the Health and Wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ People 2025–2035, launched by the Albanese government in December 2024. This action plan is a framework for continued work to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for LGBTIQ+ people, even where current responses are inadequate or show a lack of understanding.

To help you make an informed voting decision, this web page provides a summary table, with links to the full responses received. LHA encourages you to read the full responses, do your own research and form your own opinion. This summary is based on responses to our survey and might not reflect the full scope of each party’s or independent’s position.

You can also watch the Rainbow Votes Election Forum with Stephen Bates MP (Greens), Allegra Spender MP (Independent), Assistant Minister for Social Security, Ageing and Women the Hon Kate Thwaites MP (Labor), and Senator Andrew Bragg (Liberal). It was hosted on 15 April by LHA, Equality Australia, Health Equity Matters and InterAction. Media partner Joy Media has made the forum available at:

LHA acknowledges the many demands on candidates during the election period and thanks all respondents.
