Trans health in Australia: New findings and the research landscape - Members
Wednesday, September 09, 2026 at 01:00 PM
ZoomResearch about the health and wellbeing of trans and gender-diverse people in Australia remains uneven, with significant gaps in what we know about people’s health, experiences of healthcare, and the systems and conditions that shape health and wellbeing.
Liz Duck-Chong (she/her) will present initial findings from a recent national Trans research project, providing an early picture of what the research is telling us about the experiences and priorities of trans and gender-diverse people.
Liz will also place these findings within the broader Australian research landscape, reflecting on what the available evidence can tell us, where it remains limited or inadequate, and what research is needed to better inform policy, services and advocacy.

This webinar will provide an opportunity to consider both the findings emerging from the research and the broader question of whether Australia has the evidence needed to understand and respond to the health and wellbeing of trans and gender-diverse people.

Highlighting the B: What Australia’s first national bi+ sexual health study tells us about health, relationships and inclusion - Members
Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 01:00 PM
ZoomThe Bi+ Sexual Health and HIV Study (BiSHH) is the first national survey of sex, health and relationships designed specifically for bi+ people in Australia. The study included 2,109 participants from across Australia and provides new evidence about the health, wellbeing, relationships and experiences of bi+ people.
The study was coordinated by the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney and was developed through meaningful consultation with a community advisory group of 12 bi+ people from diverse lived experiences from across Australia.

This webinar will present key findings from the BiSHH community report, Understanding sex, health, and relationships among bi+ people in Australia, exploring what the research tells us about the diversity of bi+ people’s lives and some of the significant health and wellbeing issues identified through the study.
The webinar is being held on Bi+ Visibility Day, providing a timely opportunity to consider what greater visibility of bi+ people means not only socially, but within research, data, policy and health service delivery.
