Policy and Research Webinar - Towards inclusive research and health care

This webinar will explore the National Health and Medical Research (NHMRC)’s and Department of Health and Aged Care's joint Statement on Sex, Gender, Variations of Sex Characteristics and Sexual Orientation in Health and Medical Research. It will focus on the Statement’s impact on promoting inclusive research practices, addressing historical underrepresentation, and improving health equity for LGBTIQ+ populations. Participants will gain insights into best practices for data collection, lived experience partnerships, and how the ABS 2020 Standard is helping to shape a more inclusive approach to health research in Australia.

Presented by Prue Torrence, NHMRC General Manager 

Ms Prue Torrance (she/her) is the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer at the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). She has extensive leadership experience in science and research policy and programs, as well as having held senior public service management roles in corporate governance and finance. She holds a Master of Studies (Public Policy) from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons in Political Philosophy) and Science (Psychology).
